When playing or interacting with Rocket League, you agree to follow our Epic Games Terms of Service and Epic Games’ Community Rules.
Epic’s Community Rules apply to all users of Epic’s games, services, and environments, including Rocket League. These standards are a guide on how you should interact when inside the Epic Games ecosystem, and prohibit behavior such as:
- Intolerance and Discrimination
- Bullying and Harassment
- Impersonation
- Cheating and Trolling
- Dangerous or Illegal Activities
- Scams and Deceptive Practices
- Child Endangerment
- Sharing Someone Else’s Personal Information
Just because something isn’t specifically called out above doesn’t mean it’s OK. To learn more about these rules please visit Epic’s Community Rules.
Matchmaking Abuse
The following behavior is also prohibited in Rocket League:
- Playing for the other team.
- Boosting and deranking of any kind.
- Smurfing or other matchmaking abuse. We define a smurf account as an account that is intentionally abusing the matchmaking system for the player’s gain, or the gains of others.
- Example of a Smurf Account: Intentionally keeping an account at a lower Rank than where you normally play; starting an alternate account to harass others.
Reporting Misconduct
We encourage everyone to report conduct that violates our Community Rules. You can also block or mute players you no longer wish to interact with. You can learn more about reporting misconduct on our Safety and Security Center.
Content Creators
- If you are a content creator using Rocket League in any form of content -- recorded, streamed, on social media, or otherwise -- you are subject to our Code of Conduct, Epic Games Terms of Service, as well as Epic Games Content Guidelines.
- Using Rocket League to promote sponsors and services that violate these rules may lead to actions taken against your account.
- Stream sniping is not allowed.
Third-Party Mods
- Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) will be required for online play on PC.
- Community mods will not run when EAC is enabled. If you choose to turn EAC off, you can still run third-party mods while training, playing offline and LAN matches, and viewing Replays with custom video editing tools so long as they comply with our Epic Games Terms of Service. Mods cannot:
- Offer a competitive advantage in online play.
- Expose unreleased features or content found within Rocket League’s code.
- Interfere with, exploit, or abuse Rocket League services.
- If you choose to turn EAC off, you can still run third-party mods while training, playing offline and LAN matches, and viewing Replays with custom video editing tools. Steam Workshop maps are playable with or without EAC, but you’ll want it off if you run mods on top of that content.
- Epic Games does not provide support for third-party mods and is not responsible for any actions that occur through the use of third party mods.
Consequences and Appeals
The type of action we’ll take for a particular violation of our rules varies depending on the severity, whether you’re a repeat offender, and other factors. Action taken can be anything from a warning for less severe offenses, a loss of access to social features such as voice chat and adding friends, or all the way up to a permanent account ban.
If your account is permanently banned, you may lose all rights to games, virtual items, account balances, or other items that you may have earned or purchased. If you have multiple accounts, we may take action against all of your accounts.
For more information about consequences and appeals, please visit our Safety and Security Center.
